Killing Floor

Killing Floor is a post apocalyptic horror game. You are part of a special unit made to contain and destroy an out of control biotech experiment. Unfortunately, someone at the lab left the cloning system on and it basically made your job impossible, but that's okay, because you got your trusty double barreled shotgun, and your extremely durable shotgun (which is kind of an oxymoron, as katanas are pretty fragile compared to other bladed weapons) to help you kill these crazed zombie specimens.

Hey look, it's Santa!

Basically, what you do in Killing Floor is group up with a couple of your friends and weld a door shut and defend the areas that you can't close off. You each have to play smart on higher difficulties, by this I mean take a better variety of classes.  Each class has their own strong points, like Sharpshooter, with his better damage with marksman weapons, or Berserker, with his better melee weapon damage. Each class has their own weapons which they are much better with, the Sharpshooter with his rifles, the Medic with his healing and SMG, and the Demo-Man with his well... Bombs...

I haven't played Killing Floor in a while and I'm thinking about actually trading TF2 items for it. This way I'll be able to play with people from my gaming community. They all seem to have a lot of fun playing it and I did too when I had it, so... Yay?

Super Monday Night Combat

When Super MNC released a couple weeks ago, It was plagued by numerous bugs because Valve mistakenly released it early. There were so many people logging on that it was almost too much for the servers to handle and you usually couldn't get into a game due to one guy stalling while the nine others were waiting there in disgusted acceptance.

The reason why so many people were on was because even though you might not get in a game, it was totally worth it if you had to wait a couple of minutes for one. The gameplay was fresh and exciting and a twist on normal games that had you just running around killing each other, with no discernible goal. Here you are trying to destroy the enemy's "Moneyball," which has a similar style to that of DoTA where you try to destroy the enemy nexus, but it's more of a third person shooter instead of an overhead view like most RTS's which makes it unique.

The main point of the game is to kill the enemy's moneyball, and to do that, you have to fight through the opposing team and their bots plus turrets that guard the path. Now, all the while, the enemy is trying to do the same to you. So now you have to have a perfect measure of defense and offense, otherwise the enemy team could take advantage of that and win the game for themselves.

There are a much more limited amount of characters to play as in comparison to other games of the genre. DOTA 2 is boasting over a hundred by the end of their development, and League almost has reached that many. Super MNC has less than twenty... Now, that isn't that bad seeing as how they are a relatively new game. But they have a long way to go until they get to a massive scale like LoL or DOTA 2.

In Super MNC the main buffs are called Endorsements and Products. Endorsements are minor stat changes that can affect the gameplay a lot over the course of the game. Products on the other hand, are huge changes that affect something in particular, for example, one product drops a heal bomb that heals your friends when you die. This can change the tide in a teamfight rather quickly as the enemy team was put at a huge disadvantage.

Rainbow Six: Patriots

After watching the trailer for the new Rainbow Six game, I've got to say, this is something special. The story in itself is very provocative and is a hot issue in today's society. I think this game will be a huge success because the Rainbow Six franchise has always made us an insanely fun tactical shooter while delivering a very in-depth story-line.

The whole concept of terrorists fighting against the government and corporate America is an interesting topic which Ubisoft has chosen to portray in their game. In their game they make the player face hard decisions, such as the one they showed in the trailer, where you had to toss a guy off a bridge because he was about to blow up.

Although the lines are blurred because of the terrorists wanting to reshape America in a good way, they use a completely despicable way of accomplishing their goals. So I think Ubisoft kinda made it more of a good guy vs. bad guy game in that, as many people don't like the issue and it would kinda be being if all you did was stare at dissident protesters all day.

I've played Rainbow Six games in the past and I think they are slightly moving towards more and more national problems facing America, which I think is interesting due to the fact no one every really tries this. Ubisoft is probably one of the better big game companies out there and I think they might be number one compared to EA and Activision in terms of game quality. The Assassin's Creed franchise is amazing and they are releasing their new AC3 soon. Although I do think that AC is running out of ideas fast and they should move on to something fresh.

Kayle: Good at Whatever

There are so many rage threads on LoL forums saying how crappy Kayle is. This can be attributed to people thinking she should somehow be a better character than she currently is. People raging about this caused Riot to buff her to levels higher than a normal champion would be. This is great for me, who only plays support as Kayle. But really, they made her a good all around, almost too good. She now has the ability to play almost any lane on any team composition. She can play Tank, On-hit, Bruiser, AP Carry, Support, AD Carry, and Jungler. Yup... She can do whatever, and still be good at it.

Of all the ways you can play Kayle, I like AP Carry (played as Support) the best. It gives excellent sustain, as buying numerous amounts of Doran's Rings will increase your mana regen by large amounts. Then, when you are playing bot lane support, you have all you need to dish out tons of damage, by which I mean AP. Your AD Carry will most likely be fed off of your harassing, unless they have a good Soraka, in that case you can't really do much unless you can get them into a bad position, as her heals are godly. What I usually do in the early game as Kayle is just harass and heal, harass and heal. I do it because it denies their Carry CS while it ensures that our's gets all of the CS that comes their way. Not only does it provide a CS advantage, but done right it can provide 5-10 kills by mid-late game, and this is just for you alone because of your ability to nuke someone with one spell. The normal build I get for Kayle is Doran's Ring, Boots of Mobility, then Two more Doran's and then a... wait for it... RABBADONS DEATHCAP!!!! Yup. I said AP Carry, so we are building AP Carry. No crappy GP5 items. Those are obsolete when you get mad amounts of KILLS and ASSISTS!!!! After this you finish it with a Deathfire's Grasp. The added ability from this will help your team considerably as you are building tons of AP anyway. The Cooldown boost increases your effectiveness and your ability to fight.

Reckoning

Normally I would get this first as this gives you damage and a slow. The beauty behind this skill is that it has no scaling when it comes to AP. So you can build tons and tons of AP, and this will scale 1:1. Normally you can spam this if you are doing well in your lane and have no negative repercussions, as they normally can't heal themselves fully in one spell with the damage you do.

Divine Blessing

As AP Carry Support Kayle, your job is to heal people, and kill people, and save people, and generally be good. So since you got a lot of AP, your heals are great, most of the time it can get up to four hundred or five hundred HP per heal. This also gives them a mighty speed boost.

Righteous Fury

The name kinda sounds like something Hulk Hogan would say. RIGHTEOUS FURY BROTHER... Anyway, if your enemy doesn't have too much armor or magic resist then you have a powerful attack at level one. This not only makes you a ranged auto-attacker, you get an AoE attack from it and it makes your sword light on fire. I usually level this last as it isn't effective unless you are really into auto-attacking.

Intervention

Pretend your being owned by like, 3 or 5 people in the river at the moment, they waste all of their CC and you are still alive. Now imagine the angelic Kayle running in and using this on you, and using her heal as well. If you haven't seen it before, this skill gives you a 3 second invulnerability to damage. You just got away because of Kayle saving your ass. Remind yourself to buy that person a box of doughnuts after the game, because that most likely ruined their confidence and made them frustrated, allowing you to have an easier time beating them. Hizzah.
