So, I've been thinking, if I love League of Legends so much, why don't I play a character for a week and then write about what I think of him. I'm always trying out new characters and I know how to play most just basing it on their skills. So, to begin, I'm going to write about one of my favorite characters to play as, Teemo.
Teemo
The Swift Scout
I started playing Teemo before I had a solid AD build and so I used my 100% Attack Speed rune page, this worked awesome with On-hit effects and I mainly used Teemo as an AS, Crit with Mehrunes Bloodrazor, while this build in itself was decent for a level 20, it was lacking in the fact that I built almost no AD, so my entire build relied on them not using MR. This fundamental flaw made some pretty tough games, but when they didn't pay attention to MR, my team and I dominated the competition. So now, being level 30, and having some more characters under my belt, I re-examined my build for Teemo. I incorporated some of my past experience with Talon and built a better AD build, so now I have what I deem, the ultimate build for my playstyle. I start off going for crit chance with a Brawlers Glove, then I buy a Cloak of Agility and ignore Zeal for the time being until I get my Boots of Mobility, then I finish my Phantom Dancers, then I have a situational choice, if the enemy team is building Armor, or I'm facing a tank, I would want to think about building a Mehrunes Bloodrazor, so my auto-attacks can chip away at the tanks health and my poison and blind can do the hurting. But if the enemies are all squishies, I want an Infinity Edge, so I can get a ton of damage and a bit more crit chance, plus it's passive that gives me 50% more damage on crits really brings out the pain in Teemo. But even though those are two completely different items, I would still start off the build getting a Pickaxe, so it complements your earlier purchase of Phantom Dancers. Then, If I bought an Infinity Edge, I would go for a Bloodthirster, lifesteal on Teemo can really save the day in one-on-one fights, I can't remember how many times that little bit of lifesteal gave me the edge over an opposing ganker. If you bought Mehrunes, I would build a BF Sword and see what you require, I would say go for an Infinity Edge, because the extra damage it gives on crits far exceeds that of the Bloodthirster, then after I buy my fourth item, I go for a Last Whisper, no doubt a great item to have late game when the enemies all have 100-200 Armor, this bad boy cuts their armor down almost in half. Plus you get more AD, and AD, as I've seen before, can inflict a whole lot of pain if used with Infinity Edge and Armor Penetration. now heres where the build sort of has options, if you're still playing you've obviously come to late game and you need this last item to be something game changing. You have a few options, either finish your build with a Bloodthirster, or maybe get a Mehrunes Bloodrazor, or if you're feeling the need for more tanky-ness, which is acceptable due to the fact you're a glass cannon at the moment, I would go for a Warmogs, this is my favorite item to end my AD builds with because when you have around 300 AD, you don't need to focus much on building your strength, and having a Warmogs turns you from an easily gankable squishy to a force to be reckoned with.
Now, I've been talking about his build for most of this post, so I'll get on to his playstyle, I try to be the biggest annoyance in the game to the enemy team. That's right, you better be harassing their champions like none other. Teemo has the range and blinding capabilities to pull off a stellar harassment of enemy champions and take no damage in the assault, coupled with his Mushrooms that instantly make someone want to run back to their turret, you can get off quite a few hits before they realize that you've blinded them. Teemo should always try to put his mushrooms in places that will effect only enemy champions, this means bushes or the sides of the forest walls. Killing off waves of minions with your mushrooms might seem good at the time, but mushrooms serve better as wards and as ambushes than they do as minion wave defense and it leaves you, one of the biggest glass cannons in the game, without wards of your blindspots.
Blinding Darts
Blind is an especially effective tool early game, and will stay effective as long as you use it on enemy AD carries, this means targets such as Tryndamere, Vayne, Graves, Shaco, Teemo, or any other champion that uses auto-attacks to kill.
Poison Darts
Poison is something that will give you muscle in the early parts of the game and a little bit mid game, it basically is an attack damage steroid boosting your damage output dramatically at no cost to you. The small damage per tic it gives also helps a little bit if your enemies barely get away or you're going full AP, which is something I don't reccomend unless your team can gank very well.
Move Quick
Useful for catching up to enemy champions on the run, or getting somewhere quickly, I tend to level this skill the least and it really isn't something you need. The passive is somewhat useful but getting Phantom Dancers and Boots of Mobility makes you as fast as you really should be.
Mushrooms
They are your eyes and ears on the battlefield, they have a small sight range that tells you if you're about to be ganked and allows you to escape, they also do great damage and can lead to many surprise attacks that often result in a death for the enemy team.
I'll be sure to write another next week, stay tuned for more!
